PerkinElmer® 15 Ton Hydraulic KBr Press

This compact and easy-to-operate press is used with the Evacuable Potassium Bromide 13 mm Die die to prepare KBr pellets. The pressure is produced by operating a pump lever. With a rigid steel construction and protective safety shield as standard, this manual laboratory press is particlarly well suited as a FT-IR pellet press.

This bench top easy-to-operate press allows creation of the highest quality KBr pellets. It is used with the Evacuable KBr die to prepare high quality 13 mm pellets. Requires, but does not include the Evacuable KBr Die (51001144), the KBr Pellet Holder (04810949), and the Adjustable Adapter (L1060351).

The KBr pellet technique is one of the most often used techniques to prepare solid samples for infrared analysis. First the sample is ground to a fine particle size and then uniformly mixed with dry KBr powder. Finally, the sample mixture is pressed using a hydraulic press to form a KBr pellet.

The easy to read dual scale gauge is calibrated in both UK imperial tons and metric tons and an adjustable pressure control allows reproducible load for repetitive applications. The press has a compact, small footprint design making it ideal for bench-top and glove-box laboratory applications.
