Sodium Hydrosulfite, Reagent is also referred to as sodium dithionite and is a white powder with a slight sulfurous odor. Like most salts it is soluble in water and is used in industry as a reducing agent. In Biology it is used to determine the iron content of soil and to lower the redox potential of physiology experiments.
