n-Hexane, OmniSolv(R) is an unbranched isomer and is an alkane of six carbon atoms. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and a cheap and safe non-polar solvent that can easily evaporate. It is used in the manufacture of shoe glue and in the production of leather in the laboratory it is used as a way to extract grease and oil contaminants from water and soil to enable a good analysis. Ungraded products supplied by EMD Chemical are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
