Dithioerythritol, Reagent, also known as DTE, is an epimer of dithiothreitol and is used as a reducing agent. DTE is used in molecular biology to maintain sulfhydryl (-SH) groups in the reduced state and for quantitative reduction of disulfide (-S-S-) groups and in 2-D electrophoretic analysis of proteins and immunoglobulins. The Reagent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
