1-Naphthol, Purified is a fluorescent organic compound that has an appearance of a white solid. It is soluble in alcohols, ethers, and chloroform. It is commonly used as biomarkers for livestock and humans exposed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. It is used for detecting the presence of carbohydrates. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
