Acetic Anhydride, Reagent, ACS, or ethanoic anhydride as it is otherwise known is a colorless, strong smelling liquid chemical compound that is the simplest isolatable acid anhydride and commonly used as a reagent for organic synthesis. Mainly used for acetylations, its main use is for the conversion of cellulose to cellulose acetate and in the synthesis of aspirin. As an ACS grade Reagent, Spectrum Chemical manufactured acetic anhydride is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
