Ether, Purified or diethyl ether is a colorless, highly volatile flammable liquid. It is commonly used as a laboratory solvent, as a starter fluid for combustion engines and was once used as a general anesthetic. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
