Dimethyl Sulfoxide, 98 Percent is a colorless liquid and is also known as DMSO. It is an important polar aprotic solvent thanks to its ability to dissolve both polar and on polar compounds. One of Its main features is that it is able to penetrate human skin. In the field of biology it is used in PCR as an inhibitor in secondary structures in DNA templates and DNA primers. It can also be used as a cryoprotectant, reducing ice formation in cell media and thus preventing necrosis of the cell during the freezing process
