1,2-Dimethoxyethane is also known as glyme, monoglyme, dimethyl glycol, ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, dimethyl cellosolve and DME. Dimethoxyethane is a clear, colorless, aprotic liquid ether. It is commonly used as a solvent in batteries and in organometallic reaction chemistry since it is higher boiling than diethyl ether and THF. It is also miscible with water. Ungraded products supplied by Spectrum are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
