Potassium Nitrate, Crystal, Reagent, ACS occurs naturally as the mineral niter. As an ionic salt and natural source of nitrogen, this chemical compound is highly used as a fertilizer and is one of the main components in gunpowder. It is also used in other fields such as in pharmacology, where it is added to toothpaste to help treat sensitive teeth. It can also be used as an electrolyte, as a tree stump removal product and in some culture as a thickening agent in food preparation.
