1,2-Dimethoxyethane, Reagent is also known as glyme, monoglyme, dimethyl glycol, ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, dimethyl cellosolve and DME. Dimethoxyethane is a clear, colorless, aprotic liquid ether. It is commonly used as a solvent in batteries and in organometallic reaction chemistry since it is higher boiling than diethyl ether and THF. It is also miscible with water. The Reagent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material. Spectrum Chemical manufactured Reagent grade products meet the toughest regulatory standards for quality and purity.
