Classified as a weak Acid, when concentrated it is corrosive and can attack the skin. A usefull chemical reagent for the production of chemical compounds, Acetic acid has many uses. Its main use resides in the production of vinyl acetate monomer, but it is also used in the production of ester and acetic anhydride. In this case, in it's Glacial form (undiluted), it is used as a polar protic solvent. As a solvent it is used in the purification by recrystallization of organic compounds and in the production of terephtalic acid.
