Urea, Ultrapure is an odorless and colorless solid that is an important nitrogen-containing substance found in mammal urine. Urea is an effective protein denaturant. In a highly concentrated (6 to 8 M) urea solutions, many proteins unfold and separate into their constituent polypeptide chains. Urea UltraPure is also used to denature nucleic acids in sequencing gels. Ultrapure reagents offered by Spectrum undergo rigorous specification testing to insure accurate, repeatable results.
