Potassium Chlorate, Purified has been used as an oxidizing agent, a disinfectant, in oxygen preparation, and in the detection of aluminum. This simple ionic salt can yield free chlorate ions in solution which is thought to be the species responsible for this versatile activity. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
