Phosphorous Acid, Reagent, is a diprotic acid and is an intermediate in preparing of other phosphorus compounds. The biggest use of phosphorous acid is the production of phosphates that are used to treat water. It is also used in chemical reactions as a reducing agent. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
