This phenol, also known as EGCG, presents as a white to light beige crystalline solid. It is soluble in water, slightly soluble in DMSO and Methanol, and sparingly soluble in Acetone. Store in cool, dry conditions in well-sealed containers at freezing temperatures. (-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate is found in a variety of plants including green and black tea and is stable but incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. It has no known toxicity or hazards and melts at a temperature of 209°C.
