This chelating agent, also known as rac-BINAP, presents as a white to off-white solid. It is slightly soluble in chloroform(sonicated) and dichloromethane(heated). Store in a tightly closed container in a dry and well-ventilated place under inert gas. Though air and light sensitive, this substance is stable under recommended storage conditions. (+/-)-2,2'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, air, and light. This is not hazardous substance.
