This sesquiterpene, also known as (−)-β-Caryophyllene, presents as a colorless oil. It is slightly soluble in chloroform and methanol. Store in a tightly closed amber vial in a dry and well-ventilated place in an inert atmosphere at -20° C. This substance is stable under recommended storage conditions. (-)-trans-Caryophyllene occurs naturally in plants including C. sativa, C. indica and hemp, and is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. This combustible liquid is not a hazardous substance.
