This disubstituted cyclohexane, also known as 4,4'-cyclohexylidenebisphenol, presents as a white to almost white crystalline powder. It is known to be soluble in alcohols, benzene and carbon disulfide, and very slightly soluble in water. Store in a cool and dark place. 1,1-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane is incompatible with oxidizing agents and should not be stored or handled in their vicinity. This chemical is suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child and is toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
