It is known to be soluble in ether, alcohols, chloroform and many organic solvents, and insoluble in water. Store in a cool, dark and well-ventilated place. 1,1,2-trichloroethane is incompatible with oxidizing agents, strong bases and metals. This chemical is harmful if swallowed, toxic if inhaled, and causes skin and eye irritation. It may cause drowsiness or dizziness and is suspected of causing cancer as well as being harmful to aquatic life.
