Also known as Anhydrous Sodium Hyposulfite, this opaque crystalline powder is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. Stable under recommended storage conditions and hygroscopic, it can be stored at ambient temperatures but is incompatible with strong acids, strong oxidizing agents, iodine and mercury and should be kept separate from those products. Sodium Thiosulfate Anhydrous is odorless and has a salty taste. On heating it will decompose and produce toxic fumes, including sulfur oxides. It is also irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin and reacts violently with strong oxidants.
