Also known as Dimethylarsinic acid, Dimethylarsonic acid, and Hydroxydimethylarsine oxide, this colorless, odorless crystalline solid is hygroscopic and soluble in water, alcohols and acetic acid but insoluble in ether. It should be stored under inert gas and away from moisture and oxidizing agents. Aqueous solutions of this chemical react violently with active metals and it is toxic by inhalation or if swallowed. Ingestion causes arsenic poisoning but symptoms are delayed, This weak arsenic acid can be oxidized exothermically by strong oxidizing agents and reduced by strong reducing agents.
