This silane, also known as γ-Mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane, presents as a clear to straw-colored liquid with an unpleasant sulfide odor. Store in a tightly closed container in a dry and well-ventilated place at 2-8° C. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. (3-Mercaptopropyl)triethoxysilane is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and generates ethanol on contact with water or moisture. This chemical is combustible in liquid form, causes skin irritation and serious eye irritation, and may also cause respiratory irritation.
