This furandione, also known as Usniacin, presents as a yellow powder. It is soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, fural, furfuryl alcohol and insoluble in water. Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container in a dry and well-ventilated place. This substance is stable under recommended storage conditions. (+/-)-Usnic Acid is naturally occurring in lichen and is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
