This aliphatic diol, also known as 1,3-butylene glycol, presents as a colorless to slightly pale-yellow liquid. Store in a cool and dark place, under inert gas at ambient temperatures - this substance is hygroscopic. 1,3-Butanediol is incompatible with oxidizing agents, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides and reducing agents and should not be stored or handled in their vicinity. This chemical and causes serious eye irritation.
