Also known as Sodium Hyposulfite Pentahydrate, this inorganic salt takes the form of transparent monoclinic crystals or granules. Incompatible with sodium nitrate, acids, strong oxidizing agents, iodides, silver salts, and mercury salts, it can also be irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. Odorless and colorless, this product should be stored desiccated at room temperature (15-30 °C). Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate is soluble in water and turpentine, insoluble in ethanol, and decomposes in case of strong acid or above 100 ℃. With prolonged exposure to the air, it easily turns oxidated and carbonized by oxygen and carbon dioxide.
