SUMMARY 

The account manager will be responsible for increasing sales with existing customers, and for pursuing and establishing relationships with new customers. Responsible for building sales plans for the territory and achieving annual plans. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Manage assigned customer relationships within sales territory and creates sales plans to understand customer needs and offer solutions to maintain and grow business to monthly and quarterly sales plans and goals. 
  • Presents products and services to current, former, and potential clients predominantly through phone, video conferencing, email, social media, and targeted tradeshows.
  • Develops account relationships with decision makers based on market and solution knowledge.
  • Able to qualify opportunities and work opportunities through sales process in CRM from discovery to close
  • Prospects and follows up on leads to expand and convert existing and new customers at Spectrum.
  • Provide feedback to management on new products or emerging technologies based on assigned or potential accounts.
  • Provides support to customers by engaging with and working with internal departments such as production, shipping, accounting, and other internal departments to meet customer needs.
  • Provide concise customer updates to management in the form of weekly and monthly recaps/KPI’s.
  • Reviews and monitors sales, revenue, and service performance against plan, identify gaps and share best practices.
  • Ability to sell, negotiate, and close deals via phone and/or Video Meetings.
  • Ability to present capability presentations and website demonstrations to our customers.
  • Uses analytical tools available in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Power BI to progress opportunities, review goal achievement, and capture account performance.
  • Attend trade shows as needed.
  • Support open territories where customers may not have a representative.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Chemical and/or lab supply and equipment background

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
  • B.S. degree in the Sciences, Business Administration 
  • Previous industry related sales experience preferred 
  • Familiarity with how a laboratory functions and the laboratory chemicals and supplies are used 
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities and production of chemicals preferred
  • Experience in using Microsoft office and experience in accessing ERP Sales data.  Oracle, a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and gross profit margin.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Strong problem-solving skills.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
