Bromothymol Blue is used as an acid-base indicator, a color marker and a dye. As a dye, at neutral pH, it absorbs red light most strongly and transmits blue light. Solutions of the dye therefore are blue. At low pH, the dye appears yellow in solution. Ungraded products supplied by TCI America are generally suitable for common industrial uses or for research purposes but typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
