Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) Grade Selector
What are the things you need to consider when selecting a grade of ethyl alcohol?
|
- Water Content
- Alcohol Content (%Purity or Proof of Alcohol)
- Impurity Profile (Residual Solvents, DNase / RNase absence)

Ethyl Alcohol for Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Personal Care and Food Uses
These selections are manufactured in Spectrum’s ISO 9001-certified, FDA-registered facilities and operate under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). For any use where the ethyl alcohol comes in contact with humans or is ingested use Federal Food Codex (FCC), US Pharmacopeia (USP) or the similar grades (BP or EP).

Ethyl Alcohol for Industrial, Health, Education and Research Uses (Denatured)
For many industrial and research applications, denaturants, such as isopropanol and methanol, do not interfere with analytical or production protocols. The use of denaturants is used to make the ethyl alcohol (ethanol) undrinkable and exempt from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms regulation. For these applications, Spectrum offers a series of ethanol products with specifications tailored to meet your analytical or other technical needs; ACS and Reagent, ACS grades – for routine scientific applications, Anhydrous for water sensitive applications, Histological grade for histology testing techniques.
