Dehydrated Alcohol
Absolute Alcohol | 200 Proof Alcohol | Absolute Ethanol
Dehydrated alcohol, also known as anhydrous ethanol or absolute ethyl alcohol, is a volatile, flammable, colorless chemical compound with a purity of at least 99.5% and typically a moisture level of under 0.2%.
Dehydrated alcohol is widely used in both industry and science in synthetic organic reactions and as a solvent because of its low toxicity and ability to dissolve non-polar substances. Medically, it is used as a solvent and injected into nerves and ganglia for relief of pain. Anhydrous ethanol is also used as an antiseptic to disinfect the skin prior to an injection, often along with iodine.
Spectrum manufacturers dehydrated alcohol and packages it in sizes that vary from convenient laboratory 100 mL bottles to 200 L drums used in commercial production situations. Unlike other competitors that only test to USP standards, Spectrum Chemical products are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities.
